In the silence of winter, when snow turns city streets into a canvas of whiteness, a gallery in the heart of Sofia glows with light and warmth. Art Gallery “Daniela Stoykova” (Tsar Assen Street 61, Sofia) invites you on an unforgettable journey through the beauty and soul of Bulgaria with the new exhibition “With Bulgaria in the Heart.”
The exhibition opened on December 4th and will be available to art lovers until the end of January 2025.
This is not just an exhibition, but a homage to the homeland. The young and inspired artist tells stories through paintings that capture the spirit, traditions, and natural beauty of Bulgaria.
“I don’t just paint; I live through my art,” says Daniela. Each of her canvases is the result of a deep emotional experience, a journey that begins in the real world and ends in the vast realms of imagination. With her new exhibition, the artist chooses to stay at home – in Bulgaria. She transports viewers through mountains, rivers, villages with winding streets, houses with red roofs and walls where every stone holds a story.
The series „Summer-Autumn 2024“ showcases nature in its most beautiful light. One glance at the canvases is enough to feel the warmth of the sun’s rays embracing the meadows, or to hear the whisper of the autumn wind in the forests. One of the most memorable paintings from the series depicts an old Revival village nestled in the foothills of the Stara Planina. The white houses with small windows peek from behind green bushes, and paths covered with autumn leaves lead to the unknown. Another piece tells the story of a small house by the shore. The sea, reflecting the blood-red of the sunset, merges with the golden sand while the quiet wave murmurs secrets of the past.
„Winter Bulgaria“ is another part of the exhibition that inspires with its purity and beauty. White mountains, branches heavy with snow, and winding streets covered with icy crystals. In one painting, we see a snow-covered village with smoking chimneys radiating warmth. The moon above illuminates the snow like a magic lamp, and the shadows of old walls create a sense of coziness and tranquility. This series does not just depict winter but awakens memories – from children’s games in the snow to the smell of roasted chestnuts by the home hearth.
In addition to natural landscapes, the exhibition includes iconic temples from Bulgarian history and culture – “St. Nedelya”, “St. Sedmochislenitsi” and the majestic cathedral “Alexander Nevsky”.
“With Bulgaria in the Heart” is an exhibition that invites you to touch the emotion behind each artwork. It is a journey to the homeland filled with nostalgia, pride, and inspiration. As you walk through the gallery, you will feel your soul connect with the paintings. You will sense the aroma of lilac in the spring garden, hear the gentle rustle of autumn leaves, and remember the forgotten winter evenings spent in the cozy warmth of home.
